I wanted to correct a number of misperceptions around the Town’s Grass Cutting programme.
The County Council provide Towns & Parishes with two cuts per year. These local councils can elect to pay for up to four additional cuts, or self-deliver their own cutting programme. Details of the county grass cutting policy are covered in the attached 2022 newsroom release here:

Hailsham Town Council Assets Committee determined that they did not want to seek additional cuts from the County Council this year, having paid for some additional cuts in previous years. The consequence of this decision is that two cutting phases in 2023 are planned in Hailsham commencing in July and October.
You can find the grass-cutting schedule - including how many additional cuts each town or parish has elected to pay for - across the the county here:

Contrary to some public commentary, there has been no contract-related or other delay to the start of the county-run urban grass cutting season, which generally commences from April, moving from town to town from one end of the county to the other, and ends in November (the rural cutting season stretches from May to December).
If Hailsham residents are concerned that the Town Council’s minimal approach to local urban grass cutting is inadequate, could I suggest that you contact your Town Councillors asking them to amend their grass cutting policy and budget.
It is important to distinguish between regular verge grass cutting and that pertaining to junctions where excess vegetation can obscure visibility. These problems are handled by East Sussex CC Highways Stewards. If you have any concerns related to junction visibility please report them to the highways team via the enclosed East Sussex website link, or contact me directly:

I have already reported excessive growth in vegetation on the central reservation of the A22 which is making the right hand turn from the southbound carriageway towards Arlington Road West somewhat hazardous.
