I’ve been working with the East Sussex Highways and County Assets Management team on getting a long run solution to the South Road Bridge problem for a number of years.
In a leaflet delivered to residents at the end of January I indicated that a significant intervention to improve the condition of South Road bridge would follow later this year. That remains the case, and I will not rest until it is delivered.
The current recent patching work is an interim carriageway solution until ongoing utility and other works taking place in the vicinity are completed. It was pre-advertised as such.
East Sussex Highways have reassured me that a comprehensive resurfacing project related to the bridge will follow later in the year once these other works have been completed. My comments are covered in Hailsham News here:

AS ALWAYS MY FOCUS IS ON GETTING THINGS DONE FOR HAILSHAM.
