Wednesday saw a good turnout for the first Hailsham Annual Town Meeting since 2019.
I very much enjoyed chatting with people before and after, including a useful discussion with our local PCSOs about recent anti-social-behaviour issues in Brunel Drive, and also answering County Council related questions from our residents during the meeting.
Q&A from residents to the Mayor, Town, District & County Councillors covered a spread of topics from County junction improvement proposals on South Road/Ersham Road/Diplocks Way, to illegal parking in Brunel Drive and prospects for decriminalisation of parking control in pursuit of more effective enforcement, to prospects for installing more Electric Vehicle chargers, to the recent large percentage increase in the Town Council precept (Band D +8% this year & +18% since 2019/20, with the whole Town Council budget now 23% above 2019/20 levels).
The evening saw a very healthy, good humoured and informative exchange of views. It was also nice to see the new Town Crier introduced.
The meeting highlights are well covered here in Hailsham News:
