A big shout out to Hailsham Active, East Sussex County Council Rights of Way Team & Hailsham Roadways.
The Rights of Way & Countryside Team has been working with Hailsham Active & Hailsham Roadways to improve the surface of Footpath 18 which runs between the Diplocks Estate and Diplocks Way.
Although it is well used by local people travelling between their homes, shops and places of work, the surface has remained largely unimproved since the time it was a rural footpath, meaning that it has suffered from mud and water-logging during the winter and at other wet times of year.
Working with Steve Wennington of Hailsham Active, County were able to identify the path as a priority for action and to secure £18,806 of Section 106 development monies to pay for the path to be given a sealed surface. The works were completed a couple of weeks ago and involved 220m of new tarmac path construction. Before and after photos are attached.
